Dental problems are never any fun, but the best part is that most of them can be easily prevented without even going to the dentist in Karachi. Doing things like brushing teeth twice a day, flossing every day, eating a healthy diet, regular dental checkups can help you prevent dental problems.

Moreover, educating yourself about common dental problems and their causes is also very important and can also go a long way in prevention. So, here is a list of common dental problems.

Bad Breath

Bad breath is also sometimes called halitosis and can be extremely embarrassing. According to experts, about 85% of people with persistent bad breath face a dental condition that is to blame. Gum disease, cavities, oral cancer, and bacteria on the tongue are some of the most common dental problems that can cause bad breath.

However, using mouthwash to cover up bad breath when a dental problem is present will only mask the odour and not cure it fully.

Tooth Decay

Tooth decay is also known as cavities, is the second most common dental problem people usually experience. To your knowledge, tooth decay occurs when plaque, the sticky substance that forms on teeth, starts to combine with the sugars and starches of the food you eat. Therefore, this combination produces acids that attack the tooth enamel, increasing the chances of getting cavities.

It is true that you can get cavities at any age and they aren't just for children. However, as you age, you can also develop cavities as your tooth enamel erodes. Dry mouth due to age or medications can also connect to cavities.

Gum Disease

You need to be aware of the gum disease that is also known as periodontal disease, is an infection of the gums that surround the teeth and it is said to be one of the main causes of tooth loss among adults.

Everyone is at risk for gum disease no matter at what age they are, but it usually occurs after age 30. Smoking can also lead to this disease. Diabetes and dry mouth also increase your risk of having it. The symptoms might include bad breath, red, swollen, tender, or bleeding gums, sensitive teeth, or sometimes painful chewing as well.

Moreover, there are two main stages of gum disease, and which are named gingivitis and periodontitis. But regular dental check-ups along with brushing at least twice a day and flossing every day can help you in preventing gum disease.

Oral Cancer

Just as it sounds oral cancer is actually a serious and deadly disease that can affect anyone, anytime. Many people die from this disease every hour but it is often curable if diagnosed and treated in its early stages. It is also most common in people over age 40.

The biggest risk factors of developing this disease are tobacco and alcohol use, including chewing tobacco too.

Also, the symptoms of mouth or throat cancer usually include sores, lumps, or rough areas in the mouth. You may also witness a change in your bite and difficulty chewing or moving your tongue or jaw.
