Objective

PreK program for 3-5 year olds - learn action words, directions, seasons

Big Idea

Kids love bunnies and it is one of the first animals they can imitate in terms of hopping, making bunny ears with their hands etc.

We generally open program with two standbys learned at Jbrary.com - the Hello Friends song. We also modified the Bunny in a Hat song to a fingerplay

We open with book - Bunny Island by Pippa Kennard. It introduces action words: zoom, hop, dig, drip, ha, wiggle, munch, slurp, yawn, lick, kiss.

Follow with Bunny Slopes by Claudia Rueda - words: shake, tap, tilt, turn, jump.

Finally - close out the program with Bunnies on Ice by Johanna Wright. This book covers seasons and each picture has clues that help kids decide if it is right time of year to ice skate.

Challenge kids to remember what they learned about real bunnies - which book had pictures of real bunnies (Bunny Island) ? Review concept left and right - close with mitten coloring craft - one hand L and other R.
