Objective

Students will explore how to use chopsticks through personal inquiry.

Big Idea

Understanding different cultures through personal experience.Developing an appreciation of how fiction and non-fiction texts can help us understand the world.

Students will be given a pair of wooden chopsticks and 10 unifix cubes. Students are asked to see how many cubes they can move from one side of their desk to the other. Students may not stab the cubes, they must use both chopsticks correctly.

Students explore the Wonder of the Day #970 to gain information that will help to successfully move the unified cubes from one side of their desks to the other using their chopsticks in a more efficient manner. Students may also read and/or view Chopsticks by Amy Krouse Rosenthal as a fiction connection.

Students create a "HOW TO…." video, or guide to help other students learn the best possible way to successfully use chopsticks.
